Le 18 avril, à Friday Night Smackdown!, The Undertaker faisait face à Batista, le match se termina en double count-out, les 2 catcheurs ne remontant pas sur le ring pendant le compte de 10. Ensuite, Edge et "sa bande" interviennent mais The Undertaker et Batista les repoussèrent. Après le match, Vickie Guerrero annonca que Undertaker affrontera Batista la semaine prochaine à SmackDown! pour le world heavyweight championship. Le gagnant affrontera Edge pour le titre à Backlash seulement 2 jours après leur match.Il affrontera HBK à Backlash car Batista n'a pas apprécié que HBK mette fin à la carrière de Ric flair. Batista a l'occasion d'avoir un Title-match face à The Undertaker le 25 avril, mais il le perd après que Michaels soit intervenu dans le match pour donner un Sweet Chin Music à Batista, ce qui permet à The Undertaker de faire son Tombstone piledriver pour le décompte de 3.
